Fix-Up Friday- Part 1

Funky Junk is opening a second location! 

Yes, you heard that correctly. Coming soon you can get your Funky Junk fix at FJ Commons, or FJ Island.
  Funky Junk has acquired a staggeringly Funky and incredibly fabulous new place of business on Taughhannock Boulevard/Rt 89, in Ithaca's up-and-coming West End. 

In real estate they always say location, location, location.  This new location is right in so many ways... it has a patio and porch directly on the Inlet, it is across the street from Island Health and Fitness, it is a hop, skip, and jump from Cass Park, and it is nearby a pizza joint, a natural foods co-op, a quik-stop grocery, a swanky seafood joint, at least two cafe's - and that's just within two blocks!

And while right now it is not much to write home about, white walls, weird lighting, and uneven floors,

in the weeks to come, the new location will be getting a complete overhaul and renovation. Kristina and David are very excited to get this project going!

From now until the Funky Junk Island Grand Opening, every Friday will be Fix-Up Friday.  As Kristina and David, and their Funky Staff wade through this ultimate upcycling project we'll keep you up to date on everything.  We'll show you the changes the building undergoes.  We'll check in with our new neighbors and give you the low-down on the Island Neighborhood.  And we'll share with you the ups and downs of this changing business landscape.

Funky Junk has loved the Commons store for the past nine months.  And it is true that this location will be closing sometime in 2013, due to the Commons renovations and building redevelopment.
